Frequently Asked Questions

Cambridge certificates are highly ranked universities in the UK, US and many other countries. Having an A Level certificate from Cambridge is an advantage for students when applying to college/university but they still have to meet the entry requirements in the application process according to the criteria of each college/university like other applicants worldwide.

The selection of students for the Cambridge program is very thorough and the standards are very high, students must already excel in their major subjects as well as English language in order to be eligible, which means not every student can enter. If for some reason a student cannot keep up with the program, teachers will assess their weaknesses and the school will provide support to help students catch up with the program.

Passing the admission test is a must  to become a Vinschool student. In the event that a student does not pass the admission test, and is eligible to request a test result review, his/her parents may submit such a request to Vinschool Admissions Department. After a favourable review, the School’s available slots decides whether the student is admitted or not.

Entry requirements for Grade 10 Vinschool students are specified in the Admissions Policy. For more details, please click HERE

The English placement test requirements for the Cambridge program include:

  • Assessment and comment from the ESL teacher who is currently teaching the student (for students studying at Vinschool)
  • An interview in English
  • A paper-based or online English test (for 2nd grade or higher):
An English reading test for grades from 2 to 6
An English reading & writing test for 7th grade or higher

Vinschool is a Vietnamese school system following the curriculum framework of the Ministry of Education & Training (MoET) and teaching localized international education programs like Science, ICT, ESL, Global Citizenship Education (GCED), Character & Life Skills Education (CLISE), and Physical Education (PE) to all students. If, for some reason, a student has to transfer to another school, they can continue their learning at a public school or a private/billingual school).
Hence, students are equipped with sufficient knowledge and skills to thrive in any studying environment, even when transferring to a public school.

Vinschool works directly with Cambridge in the UK. E.g. The Cambridge school codes of Vinschool Times City, Vinschool The Harmony and Vinschool Central Park are VN181, VN280 and VN240 respectively.

With a holistic education approach and an inclination towards combined teaching and learning methods, Vinschool aims to build diverse extracurricular programs for students that support their classroom-based learning and promote their talents and skills.

Based on what Vinsers’ profile aims to achieve, the School has designed a comprehensive curriculum to ensure students’ attainment of learning outcomes. We seek and apply prestigious programs which have been proven successful in different countries and cooperate with leading education experts in the world and in Vietnam to develop unique programs for us.

Our curriculum is comprised of 6 learning areas and core competency development subjects. Vinschool’s programs are aligned with international programs and MoET’s new curriculum framework.

In Grade 10, students will study all the subjects. From Grade 11, they will be classified based on their future aspirations – whether they wish to study abroad or attend a domestic university, then trained and guided accordingly to achieve their goals. Students can opt for the subjects that support their career orientations and study some college-level courses. Each has their own schedule and an academic counselor who accompanies them every step of the way, helping them develop effective learning strategies, suitable university and career pathways and boost their learning and self-study skills, etc.

Students enrolled in the Advanced program at Vinschool will study the following subjects:

  • From Grade 1 to Grade 10: 5 Cambridge courses taught entirely in English by well-qualified and Cambridge certified expat teachers, namely Math, Science, ICT, Global Perspectives and ESL. These courses take up at least 20 periods per week, depending on the educational stage.
  • Grades 11 & 12: Students can choose 3-4 courses from a list of 10 Cambridge courses offered at Vinschool.
  • Vietnamese subjects following MoET’s curriculum (excluding subjects already taught in English): Vietnamese Language/Literature, History, Geography, etc.
  • Imported/localized/Vinschool-specific programs: Physical Education (PE), Vietnamese Studies, Character & Life Skills Education (CLISE), etc.

From the 2018-2019 school year, Vinschool increases the number of offered Cambridge courses from 2 to 5 (Math, Science, ESL, ICT and Global Perspectives) and removes Math, Science and ICT in MoET’s curriculum, ensuring that the Advanced program is comprised of 6 learning areas (Languages, Math, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Personal Education and Arts). Vinschool also guarantees instructional time according to the original design (e.g. Math and Science according to Cambridge programs; History, Geography and Literature according to MoET’s curriculum).

Vinschool provides a bus service for students in two forms, namely picking students up at their home or at a bus stop. The School will always try its best to meet the transport needs of its students and to ensure that students are transported by the shortest route. Parents may find up-to-date information on bus stops for student pick-up/ drop-off on the school’s website at: http://vinschool.com/vi-vn/cuoc-song-hoc-duong/dich-vu-xe-buyt.aspx?child=lo-trinh-cac-tuyen-xe-buyt

If a student needs to be picked up at home, the school can only provide such a service if it is in line with a bus route and may only pick the student up at the top of an alley (if the bus cannot enter the alley).

Parents may contact the Customer Care Officer at the School Admission Office to fill in the registration form for the bus service, or to cancel registration. The School Administration Division in charge of arranging the bus routes will consider the list of registrants and inform parents of the bus placements.

With its state-of-the-art facilities, Vinschool can meet all needs to provide a daycare service.

Classrooms are well-ventilated, the canteen is well maintained, the campus is clean and green and the functional rooms and the library are spacious. All of this contributes to a comfortable learning environment and daycare service for students, which operates from Monday to Friday. Moreover, Vinschool is one of the very few schools which has security guards on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every campus is equipped with security cameras to ensure student safety.

As part of our daycare service, Vinsers will take a rest at the school after lunch. Students’ personal belongings are their own property, so parents are advised to prepare a pillow and a blanket for their child, or get them a sleeping bag at https://uniform.vinschool.erp-smb.com/.

Vinschool has a one-way kitchen process that ensures food safety and hygiene standards. We have daily and weekly menus. These menus are well-developed according to the advice of nutritionists.

To keep parents informed of the menus and help protect the environment, we do not print them out and send to parents on a weekly basis but publicize them on Vinschool’s website HERE or post the menus in our communication channels with parents:

  • For Kindergartens: KidsOnline
  • For Primary, Secondary and High schools: VinschoolOne

At Vinschool, the average class size is 30 students (Standard program) and 25 students (Advanced program), with a standard deviation of 2.

After-school extracurricular activities are optional, so if parents wish to register their child, they will have to pay the additional fee according to the School’s notice.

School excursions are extracurricular activities held annually for students, which allow them to put their acquired knowledge into practice. Parents will need to pay a fee for school excursions at the beginning of the school year according to the School’s fee payment notice. If a student cannot participate in the school excursions, his parents will need to send a written request to the homeroom teacher before the school excursions are organized to obtain approval from the School Management Team. Unused school excursions fees will be refunded to parents in this case

The School will refund the daycare and bus service fees (if applicable) to students during the Lunar New Year holiday according to our schedule and finalize and refund the daycare service fees at the end of the school year. Tuition fees will not be refunded during this time off from school.

Parents need to submit a leave application to their child’s homeroom teacher first and get the permission of the homeroom teacher and the School Managers. Refunds will be released according to Vinschool’s financial regulations.
